$98,000 Auto Accident Settlement by Attorney Douglas Rallo

bad car accident

In this auto accident case, the defendant disobeyed the stop sign and drove directly in front of the claimant, causing a collision.

The claimant jammed her hands into the steering wheel at the time of impact. Plaintiff developed “Carpal Tunnel Syndrome”. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is caused by compression of the median nerve which passes through the wrist into the hand. Symptoms include hand pain, swelling, numbness and tingling, plus interference with gripping and fine motor tasks. Treatment frequently includes use of a wrist splint, steroid injections and sometimes surgery. Claimant also had an aggravation of pre-existing back problems for which she received epidural steroid injections (ESI). Epidural steroid injections help decrease inflammation which reduces pain. An ESI is also beneficial in identifying the precise location of pain. If the patient responds favorably to the ESI, but only temporarily, this indicates that the patient is a good candidate for surgery.
